"Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing"
-Mother Teresa
A few days ago I was in a rare plesant mood at work. I was walking down the hall and went past a person I didn't know very well. Being in a good mood, I wished them a good morning and added a smile to the mix. The response was wonderful. Not only was I wished a great morning in return, but I was given a smile back. Not just a smile, but a smile that reeked of happiness and appreciation. It was just a small moment in time, but I won't forget it.
It's the small things that can change the world. Wow, did I just say that? Why yes I did. I meant it as well.
The US is facing a challenge at the momment. We have allowed ourselves to become divided. We have forgotten the lessons in life that we were taught as children. Respect, understanding, forgiveness, compassion, honesty, ect. How can we expect the youth of america to grow into the people that we hope for, if we ourselves are not acting on those principals?
Lefty VS. Righty.
Personally, I can't take much more. First off, I fully support our President. I find the recent interest in Gun rights, and Taxes by the Tea Partiers very odd. Look, I don't mind one bit if you are critical of the presidents policies. Debates on such things are healthy. People should feel free to speak there mind about their concerns openely, but also respectfuly. However, the interviews that have been given, and the signs that are in abundance have little to do with the policies of the president. 95% of Americans got a tax cut recently. Oh, and also, Gun rights have been expanded, so in other words you still have your guns right? I ask, what freedoms have you actually lost? Lefty, I haven't forgotten you. It has been a little over a year that we have had this President. Many promises were made, as they usually are when seeking a job in politics. I have been put off by the left jumping so quickly on the fact that Obamas angenda isn't moving as fast as they would have liked it. Calm down people. Good things are happening. It might not be in the way or style you might have expected, but it is happening. Many on the left are upset because his policies are not far enough to the left. I ask them, are things better now than they were 3 or 4 years ago? Please, let him lead. If after his first 4 years we don't like the way things are going, we have something called an election.
We need take a step back from all the negative energy that has been sucking the life out of us. We need to speak out against smears and lies, on both sides. We need to understand that we all share this world together. There is not one of us who is identical in thought or appearence. Yet we have more in common than we realize. Are not our goals in life to be happy, and to be able to provide for our loved ones? Don't we all hope our young ones can accomplish more than we ever dreamed of? It's okay to hope for good things in life. Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness I think is something we can all agree on. We have to stop letting the bad overtake the good. Reach out to those who spite you and offer instead of hate and anger, a smile.
